Street Projects - Planned or In Progress

West Main - 2011-2012

West Main is in the planning stages. It includes a complete replacement of road base, underground utilities, curb and gutters, new asphalt, then a chip seal. this project is funded by several grants and some city matching funds. The project costs are estimated at 2.2 million dollars.

Ongoing Chip-seal program - 2010 and on

Beginning in 2010 the city has budgeted $65,000 for some chip-seal of the city streets. The project will address the streets in the poorest condition, that can be improved with chip seal, and proceed until funding for the year has been exhausted. Streets that have been determined to be in extremley poor condition will be skipped and later reconstructed. Bidding and purchasing of road oil occurs in the winter from January - March. The city partners with several other cities and counties to get the best price for road oil.
